LLC Annual Fees by State
Forming an LLC is only the first step. To keep your LLC legally active and protect your personal assets, you must pay an ongoing annual fee to the state. This guide covers the exact 2026 costs, due dates, and hidden franchise taxes for all 50 states.
Annual fees range from $0 (in states like New Mexico and Ohio) to $800 (the minimum franchise tax in California). On average, you should expect to pay around $100 per year just to keep your LLC legally compliant.

What Does This Fee Actually Cover?
Paying your state annual fee does not cover your Registered Agent or your income taxes. The annual fee simply keeps your business entity in "Good Standing" on the public state database.
If you hired a service like LegalZoom or ZenBusiness to form your LLC, they likely acted as your Registered Agent. You will have to pay them an additional $100 to $300 per year on top of the state fee listed above. Learn more about Registered Agent requirements.
When This Does NOT Apply
The state fees listed above are for Domestic LLCs (meaning the LLC was originally formed in that state). If you formed your LLC in Wyoming but you operate a retail store in Florida, you must register as a "Foreign LLC" in Florida. In that scenario, you will pay the $60 minimum annual fee to Wyoming AND the $138.75 annual fee to Florida every year.
